Bluewater Cafe in Ionia

1 of my favorite places to eat. Great food, really good prices, and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Obviously the "community living room", going there on a weekend morning will show you how small town Midwest functions. People gather to meet, talk, and eat classic fare. The full menu is served all day, from burgers to liver & onions, to pancakes and eggs. The "breakfast in a bowl" is a great way to get introduced to the restaurant. Situated in downtown Ionia, parking is plentiful and other shops are just a few feet away. Be prepared for a busy service and don't be surprised if it takes a few minutes to be seated. The staff is friendly and helpful, as were the other diners, in my experience.

Food is good. Portions are large. Prices are good.

We came here to pass the time as we waited for the free movie to play at the theatre. I didnt have any expectations going in but the food definently surprised me. It was really really good and very affordable. We will definently be stopping here more often.

The best thing about this place is the staff. Waiter was very kind and patient with the kids. Also - the hash browns were crispy! Very affordable.

I like it here, but twice now my husband and I have had problems with an older blonde waitress. Forgets to give us our drinks, or doesn't refill them at all. I shouldn't have to ask another waitress to do so! Forgets what food goes where, which is annoying but it happens. But the biggest thing is when you order and make it a point to request something be particular. (Example: Ordered a burger with fries, and an order of breaded mushrooms to share. And the burger came with no fries and mushrooms had taken their place! <--- If she had paid attention I told her it happened before and didn't want it to come that way again!) Also, we all know sausage gravy and biscuit gravy are different, but getting snappy with my husband over you clarifying the difference wasn't needed! We have no problems with anyone else waiting on us, and over all like it here.

The service and the food was excellent even though it was at a busy time. The best breakfast we've had in a long time. And the sausage sausage gravy was really homemade!

Great local diner. Staff is personable and attentive, food is great, coffee is hot and fresh. I've been here hundreds of times over the last few years, and it'll continue to be a staple every time I come back into town. Keep up the great work!

Greasy spoon to say the least. Went to the bathroom and saw in the kitchen and it was just gross. Everything I touched had a film on it. God forbid you ask for something to be different with your order than it normally is. Substitutions are some kind of problem for one cook. And it's pretty bad when you can hear them hollering about it almost to the front of the restaurant. I've had positive experiences with the male owner. I'm just not impressed with the food, staff or restaurant overall. Sorry

My kids and myself love going to bluewater cafe. Our favorite waitress is nevaeh. She makes our experience the best ever, each time... we prefer small businesses, and this one is one of the best.

The food is very filling and well priced. Love that its a breakfast all day establishment. The waitresses are nice and a little goofy at times.
